Madison Park Boutique :: BasicLux Records
By Tony Velazco
I discovered this album quite by accident while in New York City and frankly, it was impossible to leave out of this review section. Comprised of real-life partners James and DeAnna Cool, founders of their own record label BasicLux Records, “Boutiqe” stands out for its colorful and brilliant music. In fact, “Boutique” is a type of auditory addiction, because once you listen to it, you’ll find out it’s very difficult to put down. An aphrodisiac? Hallucinating? Hypnotizing? Yes, yes and totally yes. Madison Park offers a collection of lite Dance music, with electronic instrumentation that could easily be categorized as “New Age Dance” with a soft splash of futuristic “House.” With a little bit of percussion and electronic programming, “Ocean Drive” incites a feeling of dancing in the middle of a beautiful sunset near the beach. “Nu Sensation,” the song that opens the album, establishes the beginning of what eventually turns into a total cocktail of sensual rhythms with the sultry voice of DeAnna as the basic backdrop of the entire album. Tracks that will rapture you include: “You Do Something To Me,” “Boutique,” “My Personal Moon,” “You Take Me Places” and “Give Me Your Love.” The moral of this album: Don’t be afraid of the unknown, expand your horizons and enjoy music that can truly awaken all your senses. Madison Park is an instant classic!
